April Fools – Google Style

At the beginning of March, there were several stories published by major news networks, around how one town in Kansas renamed itself (temporarily) ‘Google, Kansas’ in an effort to claim one of the few spots available for the beta version of Google’s Fiber Network.  That did not go unrecognized by Google, and today they exacted their ‘revenge’ by renaming their campus and homepage as an April Fool’s joke.  Well played Google, er ‘Topeka’.

April Fool’s Day – talk about going viral!

April Fool’s Day is rampant with fake news stories and hoax’s on the internet.  The one that may have gotten the largest viral spread was pulled off by Federated Media’s Founder and Chairman, John Battelle.  Twitter is hot – and it’s suitors are many.  Every day there is a new rumor about who’s in the running to buy the microblogging service.  John’s prank today about News Corp. winning the bidding war @ a whopping $750M was blazing up all the social and traditional media outlets…  hitting the likes of Yahoo, Business Week, and yes…Twitter itself.  Well done John – you were the ‘talk’ of the virtual town today…
